Dear friends,
There are currently no government approved kindergarten classrooms in Kilometer 30 for children ages 4 and 5 years old. Last year a kindergarten room was built on the primary school land. It was to be torn down earlier this year (it was not on the petition or land use certificate), but the kindergarten forfeited the building so it could remain standing. There are an estimated 150 kindergarten aged children in Kilometer 30 this school year. About 50 children were allowed to start this month, based on the government land certified for a kindergarten and donated last week for classrooms and Missions Ministries’ commitment to build the classrooms. While Jeff and Jenny were taking the photo and meeting the teachers, two moms with small children came by wanting their children to start class, but they were told they would have to wait. Kindergarten in Mexico is divided up into three groups, “A, B and C.” Children must pass though all the kindergarten segments to start first grade. We hope to build three classrooms this year in K30, so these little ones will have a chance for education. Many families also need homes before the cold weather begins. Little Poncho (with the hand and foot surgery in March), is standing next to the teacher on the right.
.
Blessings,
All of us at Missions Ministries
